Moving Tips: How to Manage the Bedroom

Packing up the bedroom can be easier than it might appear.

Moving can still be undeniably stressful, even with the best organizational skills and preparation. Packing up every room in the home takes time, and each space has its challenges. For example, the bedroom is the most personal space in any home and generally contains numerous large and small items. It's no wonder then that packing the bedroom can seem daunting.

Because things like packing the items in a closet can seem to take forever, the urge to delay packing is natural. But with some planning, packing up the bedroom can be easier than it might appear. Here are a few moving steps to consider:

Step 1: Declutter the bedroom

The bedroom can also be an office, a mini gym, or even a place to store family mementos for many people. Unfortunately, that usually means a lot of clutter. So, the first step should include choosing which items to keep and which to discard.

This is the perfect opportunity to consider donating items in good condition but no longer helpful. If there's one aspect of moving that brings some relief is that people can go through their belongings and purge anything they don't need.

Step 2: Gather packing supplies

After the decluttering is completed, it'll be easier to assess what packing supplies will be necessary. This is the right moment to purchase or borrow an assortment of various size boxes and see if there's any wrapping material such as newspapers available at home.

When packing any room, including the bedroom, most people will need bubble wrap, stretch wrap, packing tape, corrugated cardboard, garbage bags, and markers and pens.

Also, remember that it's sometimes necessary to disassemble furniture and protect the mattress, so have screwdrivers and protective covers on hand.

Step 3: Start packing

If the home has multiple bedrooms, it's best to start with the one used the least. Then, make a list of what goes into which box and start packing items that won't be used until after the moving is complete.

Also, consider wardrobe boxes for specific items of clothing. These are practical because they allow clothing transfer without removing them from the hanger.

When packing treasured items such as sculptures and paintings, carefully wrap them with bubble wrap or tissue paper.

After filling a box, close it properly, apply tape, and write an accurate description of the contents. Doing so should save everyone a lot of trouble when the time comes to unpack.

Don't forget to add a destination address on each box in case one is lost during the moving process.

Pack up the bedroom with ease

Moving is exhausting and takes time, but it's much more difficult if done without a plan. Therefore, every moving process should start with writing down the goal and move on to decluttering.

Let's face it; bedrooms can be a little messy, as this is a private space and throwing clothing around and accumulating items comes easily.

So, when it's time to move and pack the bedroom, headaches may ensue. However, take a deep breath and start slow. Finally, don't forget that calling professional movers is always an option.
